What a fabulous day. After yesterday's wet end, it's nice to wake to a blue sky and, when we walk to the end of camp, bright sunshine and snow-capped Volcan Osorno is visible at last!
They were both there all the time...
First stop is the view of Osorno from Lake Petrohue (only sad there's no reflection as it is too
choppy)
Onto the Saltos de Petrohue - a super backdrop to the peaks.
5km
further on, we start up a 12km road up Volcan Osorno (a strong smell of
burning brakes from the buses coming down - a warning of tough climb and descent
ahead!)
Obviously, we have to stop at the edge of the ski area
and we're at cloud level as they rise beside us
Now back to earth. Not enough pictures of fruit, I hear you cry - OK, here's some wild rhubarb which seems to grow straight out of rock
...and, on this pass, there's lots of Andean snow again so time to refill the coolbox with snow and ice
Tonight's campsite is, shall we say, rustic, run by Mapuche tribesfolk
