Back onto Ruta 40. Approaching El Hoyo, we see various horsemen in fine clothes so we head into town and, driving by the Municidad, there are many riders on the town green
.The RN40 splits at
Los Alerces, another UNESCO World Heritage site
a park whose landscape has been moulded by glaciers into clear lakes and mountains
The lakes are surrounded by globally-endangered Alerce forests, the second longest-living in the world (up to 4,000 years)
in which lives some threatened (but shy) species
