We've awoken occasionally to howling winds and rain – the occasional piece
of tree dropping on the roof hasn't comforted us! Off to a space the forested section for breakfast – you see how chilly it is
a
little shabby on the outskirts but we restock in a supermarket in the shopping mall
with good
seating area overlooking the Beagle Channel. Down at sea-level, it's a mixed bag - a bit scruffy with container ships (and their cargo) and Antarctica-bound liners
but gorgeous scenery and clear, flat waters

Out on the main street
past the cathedral
past the cathedral
we find the Museo del Fin de Mundo in what used to be the only bank in town (note the vault, to the right below), ship figureheads celebrating the city's maritime history
and a few stuffed birds (mangy but helpful at least for
us to recognise what we’ve been seeing). Old films are showing, including a
1927 documentary on delivering 25 breeding pairs of beaver from Canada to
Tierra del Fuego, starting an ecological disaster when they make themselves thoroughly at home and take down more trees than expected!
Out of town is Parque Nacional de Tierra del Fuego
Back in town and a stop at the Plaza Isla Malvinas
